Westminster men compete at Thiel Spring Invitational

HERMITAGE, Pa.--The Westminster men's golf team competed in the Thiel Spring Invitational Monday afternoon at the Avalon at Buhl Park Country Club. 

Washington & Jefferson's 'A' team claimed the team title at the 11-team event with a score of 292. Pitt-Bradford was second (294) and W&J's 'B' team was third (301). Westminster finished 10th with a score of 336.

W&J's Matthew Morelli was medalist, posting a one-under 69.

Freshman Aydan Gross (Mount Pleasant, Pa., Mount Pleasant ) finished in a three-way tie for 21st with a 78 and freshman Brody Pirt (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) finished in a three-way tie for 43rd with an 85. Freshman Aiden Barker (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood) finished in a three-way tie for 46th (86), senior Joshua Furman (Jefferson, Ohio, Jefferson) finished in a three-way tie for 49th (87) and junior Nate Covey (Sarver, Pa., Freeport) finished 56th (93).

Senior Nick Vitale (New Castle, Pa., Union) and sophomore Zach Livosky (Poland, Ohio, Poland Seminary) competed as individuals. Vitale finished in a three-way tie for 52nd (88) while Livosky tied for 57th (95).

Up next:
Westminster is scheduled to complete in the Peter C. Rossin Memorial Invitational April 13. Hosted by W&J, the event is being held at Southpointe Golf Club in Canonsburg.
