Westminster women claim team title at Bedford Springs Invitational

Rankin earns medalist honors

BEDFORD, Pa.--The Westminster women's golf team claimed the title at the Bedford Springs Invitational, presented by LAMPIRE Biological Laboratories, on Tuesday. The event, which was hosted by Moravian, was played at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort.

Westminster topped the five-team leaderboard with combined score of 347.

Junior Katie Rose Rankin (Sewickley, Pa., North Allegheny) was medalist with a three-over 75. Freshman CeCe Morgan (Fairview, Pa., Cathedral Prep) was fourth with a 89 while senior Alyssa Rapp (Poland, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) was fifth with a 91. Sophomore Ava Liburdi (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) tied for sixth (92). Senior Olivia Kana (North Huntingdon, Pa., Greensburg Central Catholic) was 17th (102).

Freshmen Madey Myers (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) and Paige Ponteous (Butler, Pa., Butler) competed as individuals. Myers tied for 13th (101) and Ponteous tied for 20th (110).

Up next:
Westminster will compete at the PAC Championships Friday-Saturday, April 24-25. The final two championship rounds will be played at Mill Creek Metroparks on the Mill Creek North Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio.
