Young nets career-high six goals in win at Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa.--Graduate student Felicia Young (Darlington, Pa., Blackhawk) led the Westminster women's lacrosse team with a career-high six goals in Wednesday night's 15-7 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Saint Vincent. 

Winners of four straight, Westminster improved to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the league. Saint Vincent fell to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the PAC. 

Five of Young's six goals came in the first half, helping the Titans get out to an 11-0 lead with under four minutes to go in the second period. Westminster went into the break up 11-1. 

Senior Julia Ravazza (Twain Harte, Calif., Dublin) finished with two goals, three assists and four draw controls. Sophomore Allyssa Anstis (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) totaled two goals and an assist while senior Haley Wenzel (Coppell, Texas, Coppell) had two goals and four ground balls. Senior Michaela Neelin (Henrietta, N.Y., Rush Henrietta) had one goal, one assist, two ground balls and a career-high seven draw controls. Young added two ground balls and five draw controls. 

Senior Isabella Cespedes (Merrick, N.Y., Sanford H. Calhoun) totaled four ground balls and two caused turnovers while classmate Chloe Courinos (Beaver Falls, Pa., Blackhawk) finished with two assists and five ground balls. Junior Falyn Snyder (Bel Air, Md., Bel Air) and freshman Meadow McDonald (Chardon, Ohio, Chardon) split time in net today. Snyder played the first 30 minutes and made five saves. McDonald played the final two quarters and had one save. 

Westminster outshot Saint Vincent 36-17 and finished with a 23-10 advantage in shots on goal. Westminster went 10-of-13 on clears while Saint Vincent went 13-of-19.

Westminster hosts Grove City Saturday. The opening draw from the UPMC Sports Complex is scheduled for 1 p.m.
