Piper claims PAC Pitcher of the Week award

TRAFFORD, Pa.--Westminster sophomore Cheyenne Piper (Latrobe, Pa., Ligonier Valley) was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week Monday afternoon.

It is Piper's first weekly award this year. She was a three-time PAC Pitcher of the Week last spring.

Piper went 1-0 with a save in Saturday's sweep of Geneva. She worked a combined 10.0 innings, allowing one run on four hits with three walks and 11 strikeouts. Piper won her fourth-straight start in the 7-1 game one triumph, improving to 4-2 this season. She allowed one run on three hits with a walk and 10 strikeouts in the complete-game victory. Piper threw the final 3.0 innings to secure the save in the Titans' 5-1 game two victory. It was the first save of her career. Piper has reached double-digit strikeouts twice this season.

Westminster will open its home schedule Wednesday afternoon against Chatham (5-11, 1-1 PAC). The first pitch of the PAC doubleheader is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
