Ravazza nets game-winner against Point Park

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Senior Julia Ravazza (Twain Harte, Calif., Dublin) finished with eight points, including the game-winning score with seven seconds remaining in regulation, to lead the Westminster women's lacrosse team to an 11-10 victory over Point Park Wednesday evening at the UPMC Sports Complex. 

Westminster evened its record at 3-3 with Wednesday's win. 

Ravazza totaled five goals and three assists and added six draw controls. Sophomore Allyssa Anstis (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) had three goals and three draw controls while senior Felicia Young (Darlington, Pa., Blackhawk) scored twice and had three ground balls. Senior Haley Wenzel (Coppell, Texas, Coppell) chipped in with one goal, one assist, six ground balls and a caused turnover. 

Senior Isabella Cespedes (Merrick, N.Y., Sanford H. Calhoun) finished with four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Freshman Mady Warner (Concord Township, Ohio, Riverside) added two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Junior Falyn Snyder (Bel Air, Md., Bel Air) made 10 saves and had six ground balls. 

Gracie Favela led Point Park (2-4) with two goals and four assists. 

Tied 6-6 at the half and 7-7 after three quarters, Ravazza scored twice to start the fourth to give the Titans a two-goal advantage. Favela and Tessa Hueber scored back-to-back goals in a 36-second span to tie the game 9-9 with just over nine minutes remaining. Young's second goal of the night gave Westminster a 10-9 lead with 7:14 left before Kiley Leasure's woman-down goal with 4:37 to go tied the game at 10-10. 

Wednesday's game-winner was Ravazza's fourth since arriving in New Wilmington last season. 

Westminster finished with a 29-28 edge in shots while Point Park had an 18-16 advantage in shots on goal. 

Up next:
Westminster will open its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) schedule Saturday against Geneva (1-8, 0-1 PAC). The opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m.
