Westminster falls at W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster women's basketball team suffered an 82-53 setback to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Washington & Jefferson Saturday inside the Salvitti Family Gymnasium. 

Westminster fell to 7-14 overall and 4-8 in the league after its third-straight loss Saturday. 

Junior Grace Cano (Greenville, Pa., Greenville) led the Titans with 10 points. It was her 14th-straight game scoring in double figures. Sophomore Katie Maryo (Cleveland, Ohio, Magnificat) hit three three-pointers in the loss to give her a PAC-best 54 this season. 

Riley DeRubbo led W&J with 17 points. 

Trailing 69-36 after three quarters, Westminster used a 13-0 fourth quarter run to cut the deficit to 23, 72-49, capped by sophomore Maddie Syka's (Darlington, Pa., Lincoln Park) three-pointer with 5:42 to play. 

The Presidents scored 29 points off the Titans' 26 turnovers. Westminster finished with a 43-36 rebounding edge. 

Up next:
Westminster will travel to Hiram (7-14, 4-8 PAC) Wednesday for a pivotal PAC North matchup. Tipoff from Price Gymnasium is set for 5:30 p.m. The Titans earned a 63-61 victory over the Terriers in New Wilmington on Jan. 14.
