Westminster falls at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio--The Westminster men's lacrosse team suffered a 23-5 loss at Oberlin Wednesday night at the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex and Dick Bailey Field.

Westminster fell to 1-2 this season. Oberlin improved to 2-0.

Oberlin, up 7-4 at the half, scored seven-straight third quarter goals to stretch its lead to 14-4 heading into the fourth. The Yeoman fired in eight-straight goals to start the fourth before senior Marshal Maguire (Arlington, Va., Wakefield) scored from 40 yards out with just under a minute to go.

Junior Anthony Trella (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) and sophomore Paul DiPasquale (Woodbine, Md., Glenelg) each had a goal and an assist. Sophomore Jack Poller (Huntington, N.Y., Harborfields) finished with four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Senior Jorden Tate (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) made 13 saves. 

Jacob Starcke led Oberlin with four goals and three assists. 

Up next:
Westminster hosts DePauw Saturday. The opening faceoff from the UPMC Sports Complex is scheduled for 1 p.m.
