MINNEAPOLIS--Westminster College standouts Dylan Sleva (McDonald, Pa., Moon) and Brite Cannon (Parkland, Fla., Monarch) were named to the D3football.com Team of the Week Tuesday morning after terrific performances in Saturday's 28-23 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Case Western Reserve Saturday night at DiSanto Field.

The Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, is in its 27th season of recognizing the top performance at each position from the previous week.

Sleva, a senior linebacker, was a Team of the Week selection for the first time in his career. Cannon, a sophomore, was honored as a return specialist for the second time in his career. He was recognized last year after scoring a special teams touchdown for the third consecutive week after taking back a 57- yard punt return for a score in a 49-7 win at Bethany.

Sleva registered his fifth-straight game with a dozen or more tackles Saturday night, finishing with 15 stops (10 solo). He added a sack in the opening quarter. Sleva currently leads all Division III players in total tackles, with 58 (24-29).

Cannon accounted for 232 all-purpose yards and delivered a pair of explosive second quarter touchdowns. With the Titans up 14-7, Cannon returned a kickoff 100 yards to help stretch the lead to 21-7. It was the program's first 100-yard kickoff return since Sean Buggey took one back against Washington & Jefferson on Oct. 8, 2005. It was the second kickoff return for a score, and fifth special teams' touchdown, of Cannon's career. Cannon also ripped off a streaking 80-yard catch and run on a pass from sophomore Sean O'Shea (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) with just under three minutes left in the second to stake the Titans to a 28-14 lead heading into the half. Cannon finished with six grabs for 126 yards--both were career highs for the sophomore.

Cannon's 42.5 yards per kickoff return average ranks No. 2 in Division III this season.

Up next:
Westminster, after enjoying its Sept. 27 bye, will host Bethany for its annual Family Weekend and Hall of Fame game on Saturday, Oct. 4. Kickoff from Memorial Field inside Harold Burry Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
