Westminster ninth at Allegheny Classic

MEADVILLE, Pa.--The Westminster College men's cross country team placed ninth at the Allegheny Classic Saturday morning. 

Baldwin Wallace claimed the team title at the 13-team, eight-kilometer event, finishing with 52 points. Saint Francis' Carlos Cheruiyot won the individual title after posting a time of 27 minutes, 01 seconds. 

Geneva and Slippery Rock tied for second, with each totaling 95 points. Westminster scored 293 team points. 

Junior Dalton Koehler (Chardon, Ohio, Fairport Harding) finished 54th with a time of 30:46. Freshmen Phil Silvis (Harmony, Pa., Seneca Valley) and Nick Bender (New Castle, Pa., Neshannock) finished 56th and 57th, respectively, with times of 31:44 and 32:04. Freshman Dillon Brunner (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper Saint Clair) was 61st (32:28), junior Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex) was 65th (33:21) and freshman Nathaniel Gannoe (Erie, Pa., Cathedral Prep) was 73rd (35:47).

Up Next:
Westminster will participate in the Youngstown State Invitational next Saturday. The meet, scheduled to get underway at 10:30 a.m., will be contested at the Gorby Family Cross Country Course located at the Mill Creek MetroParks Farm.
