Westminster men seventh at PAC Championships

MEADVILLE, Pa.--The Westminster College men's cross country program finished in seventh place at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships Saturday morning. 

The nine-team, 100-runner event was hosted by Allegheny at the Robertson Athletic Complex. 

Geneva totaled 38 points to win its first conference title. Grove City was the runner-up with 71 points. Westminster finished with 216 points. W&J's Dominic Flitcraft won the PAC's individual title, finishing the eight-kilometer race with a time of 26 minutes, 16.90 seconds. 

Freshman Nick Bender (New Castle, Pa., Neshannock) finished 30th with a time of 29:23.10 while classmate Phil Silvis (Harmony, Pa., Seneca Valley) was 52nd (30:48.50). Junior Dalton Koehler (Chardon, Ohio, Fairport Harding) was 66th (31:41.00) and senior Justin Redilla (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) was 80th (32:47.60). Freshman Dillon Brunner (Pittsburgh, Pa., Upper Saint Clair) was 88th (34:01.70) rounded out Westminster's scoring five. 

Freshman Nate Gannoe (Erie, Pa., Cathedral Prep) was 92nd (34:34.20) while junior Dennis Jones (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex) finished 95th (36:56.20). 

Jones was named the PAC's Sportsmanship Team after the championship race. The PAC Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior and are an ongoing effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all PAC teams.

Westminster is scheduled to compete at the Grove City Twilight (5K) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
