GREENVILLE, Pa.--The Westminster College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss at Thiel to open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Wednesday night at Maenpa Court inside Beeghly Gymnasium.

Westminster fell to 7-5 overall while Thiel ran its record to 6-3.

Junior Anna-Kate Davis (Boonsboro, Md., Boonsboro) and senior Angie Nardone (Ellwood City, Pa., Lincoln) controlled the Westminster offense, with Davis posting 15 assists and Nardone registering 13. Senior Shelby Rambo (East Palestine, Ohio, Crestview) hit .533, finishing with nine kills on 15 attacks and added three blocks and a pair of digs. Senior Charlotte Burgan (Moon Township, Pa., Moon) totaled six kills. Sophomore Brooke Gecina (Aurora, Ohio, Aurora) finished with 11 digs and two service aces.

Daisy Jenness led Thiel with 13 kills while Arin DeLattre added 10. Carlie Reynolds had 38 assists, 13 digs, three service aces and two blocks.

Thiel jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the first and rattled off four-straight points to reach set point leading by 11, 24-13. Three-straight points by Westminster cut the margin to eight, 24-16, but Jenness' sixth kill of set sealed the win. The second set was a back-and-forth affair from start to finish, with 12 ties and five lead changes. Tied at 19-all, the teams traded runs down the stretch, with a 4-0 getting Thiel to within two of the set win before three straight points from Westminster cut the lead down to one, 23-22. The Titans battled off set point with a kill from sophomore Morgan O'Brien (Pittsburgh, Pa., Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) before DeLattre ended things with a kill of her own to end the second 25-23. It was her fourth of the set. Westminster started the third off strong, stringing together five-straight points to go up six, 11-5. Down nine, 18-11, Thiel put together its own five-point run to pull to within two, 18-16, and later went up two, 23-21, fueled by a six-point run. Burgan's kill cut the Tomcats' lead to one, 23-22, before a pair of Westminster attack errors finished the match.
