Westminster second at Youngstown State Kickoff

BOARDMAN, Ohio--The Westminster College women's golf team carded a team score of 342 to finish second at Monday afternoon's Youngstown State Kickoff.

The five-team event was played at Mill Creek Golf Course's North course. Host Youngstown State won the team title with a team score of 292. Westminster finished second and Grove City was third with a score of 376. YSU's Neeranuch Prajunpanich was the medalist after carding an eight-under 64.

Sophomore Ava Liburdi (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) tied for eighth with a nine-over 81 while senior Alyssa Rapp (Poland, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) and junior Katie Rose Rankin (Sewickley, Pa., North Allegheny) tied for 10th after both shot an 84. Senior Olivia Kana (North Huntingdon, Pa., Greensburg Central Catholic) tied for 19th (93) and freshman Madey Myers (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) finished tied for 22nd (97).

Freshmen CeCe Morgan (Fairview, Pa., Cathedral Prep) and Brooke Hart (Meadville, Pa., Meadville), graduate student Gianna Effinite (West Middlesex, Pa., West Middlesex), sophomore Haily Rusnak (Boardman, Ohio, Boardman) and freshman Paige Ponteous (Butler, Pa., Butler) competed in the 34-player event as individuals. Morgan tied Rapp and Rankin 10th (84) while Hart tied for 13th (89). Effinite tied for 25th (102), Rusnak tied for 28th (106) and Ponteous was 30th (113).

Westminster will travel to Olivet's Kyle Campbell Memorial Tournament this Friday and Saturday. The two-day event is being held at the Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Mich.
