Hager tops leaderboard, men in third place at Olivet

BATTLE CREEK, Mich.-Junior Tyler Hager (Lehighton, Pa., Palmerton) fired a one-over 73 Friday at the University of Olivet's Lou Collins Memorial Tournament, helping Westminster College finish the opening round in third place.

The two-day, 10-team event is being held at the Bedford Valley Country Club. Kalamazoo registered an opening-round 308 while Albion is in second place with a 310. Westminster sits in third with a 315.

With his low round of 73, Hager is a stroke ahead of Adrian's Jack Vogel (74) and two strokes up on Rochester Christian's Daniel Runkel (75).

Freshman Aydan Gross (Mount Pleasant, Pa., Mount Pleasant) is tied for 16th after carding a 79. Senior Joshua Furman (Jefferson, Ohio, Jefferson) is in a four-way tie for 23rd with an 81. Junior Jonathan Haddox (Bethel Park, Pa., Bethel Park) is in a six-way tie for 27th after shooting an 82 while freshman Brody Pirt (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) is 46th after an opening-round 88. Freshman Aiden Barker (Pittsburgh, Pa., Brentwood), competing as an individual, is in a three-way tie for 50th with a 93.
