GREENWOOD, Ind.--Westminster College rising junior Ava Karpa (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) was named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® honoree Tuesday afternoon.

The Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by CSC, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions, NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division II and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 17.

Karpa, a shortstop, earned Second Team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) for the second-straight year. In 35 starts this spring she hit .330 with nine doubles, six home runs, 33 RBIs and 29 runs scored. Karpa finished the year with a .398 on-base percentage and a .578 slugging percentage. An English major, Karpa carries a 3.81 cumulative grade-point average (GPA). She has been named to the College's Dean's List three times and was recognized on the PAC's Spring Academic Honor Roll last year.
