Titans post pair of five-inning wins against Carlow

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster softball cruised to a pair of five-inning, run-rule victories over visiting Carlow Monday afternoon. The Titans won game one 10-0 before securing a 16-0 victory in the nightcap. 

Westminster, winners of nine straight, improved to 24-8 this season. 

Game 1: Westminster 10, Carlow 0 (5 inn.)
Junior Natalie Davis (Youngstown, Ohio, Boardman) fired a four-hit shutout, walking two and striking out two in 5.0 innings. She improved to 9-4 this season. 

Sophomore Lily Jordan (Rural Valley, Pa., West Shamokin) went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Her solo home run in the second was her eighth this year. Senior Kelly Troup (Mogadore, Ohio, Field) was 2-for-2 with a run scored out of the leadoff spot. 

Game 2: Westminster 16, Carlow 0 (5 inn.)
The Titans sent 17 batters to the plate, scoring 11 runs on nine hits. 

Westminster's 20 hits were a season high. 

Junior Riley Salazar (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) and senior Jenna Boneysteele (Carnegie, Pa., Chartiers Valley) combined for the four-hit shutout. Salazar improved to 2-0 with the win. She allowed three hits, walked one and struck out five. Boneysteele threw 2.0 relief innings, allowing one hit with two walks and two strikeouts. 

Freshman Teagan Reichel (Meadville, Pa., Meadville) went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Her RBI double in the first was the first hit of her career. Junior Ava Karpa (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) was  2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored. She got things going with two-run base hit in the first. Salazar went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Junior Jadyn Malizia (New Castle, Pa., Neshannock) had a two-run double in the first. 

Up next:
Westminster returns to PAC action Wednesday at Thiel. The opening pitch from Tomcat Park is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
