Westminster finishes in fourth at Jimmy Hanlin Classic

PAINESVILLE, Ohio--The Westminster College men's golf program posted a fourth-place finish at the two-day Jimmy Hanlin Golf Classic, hosted by Ohio Northern University. 

Sunday's round was played at Stonewater Golf Club in Highland Heights, Ohio. Monday's round was played at Little Mountain Country Club in Painesville. 

Marietta College won the team title with a two-day score of 596 (296-300). Capital University was second (604, 298-306) and host ONU was third (6-5, 298-307). Westminster recorded a two-round team score of 613, shooting a 309 Sunday before registering a 304 Monday. 

Capital's Keegan Billingham finished in a three-way tie for first place with a four-over 147 (71-76) and won medalist honors with a par on the first playoff hole. 

Senior Joe Trudeau (Ann Arbor, Mich., Skyline) was seventh with a six-over 149, firing a 75 Sunday before a 74 Monday. Senior Ellian Ascencio (Venetia, Pa., Peters Township) finished in a four-way tie for eighth place with a 152, carding a 75 Sunday and a 77 on Monday. Senior Gavin Batdorff (Berlin Center, Ohio, South Range) tied for 23rd with a 157 (77-80) while graduate student Kai Haseyama (Encinitas, Calif., San Dieguito Academy) finished in a five-way tie for 25th with a 158 (82-76). Senior Logan Marnik (Carnegie, Pa., Chartiers Valley) tied for 37th with a 162 (85-77). 

Senior Portland Canovali (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny), playing as an individual, tied for 35th with a 161 (83-78). 

Up Next:
Westminster will return to action next Monday-Tuesday, April 14-15 at the Win Palmer Cup, hosted by Wittenberg University. The two-day event will be played at the Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley.
