Westminster wins at W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College men's lacrosse program rolled to a 19-5 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Washington & Jefferson College Wednesday night at Alexandre Field. 

Westminster improved to 9-7 overall and 4-3 in the PAC. W&J fell to 5-11 overall and 1-6 in the PAC.

Graduate midfielder Jimmy Sentz (Catonsville, Md., Loyola Blakefield) scored a pair of goals to go along with six assists and two ground balls. Freshman attacker Ethan Kurtz (Hummelstown, Pa., Lower Dauphin) finished with four goals while sophomore attacker Anthony Trella (Coraopolis, Pa., Moon) posted four assists, one ground ball and one caused turnover. Senior midfielder Gavin Jones (Henrico, Va., Douglas S. Freeman) finished with two goals, one assist and three ground balls while junior attacker Brady Page (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) finished with two goals and an assist. 

Freshman Jack Steimle (Mount Sinai, N.Y., Mount Sinai) finished with career-high eight ground balls and went 12-for-13 at the X.

Westminster outshot W&J 57-22 and had the advantage in shots on goal, 34-13. Westminster was 16-of-19 on clear attempts and won 22 faceoffs. 

Up Next:
Westminster concludes its regular season Saturday against Allegheny College. The opening faceoff from inside the UPMC Sports Complex is scheduled for 3 p.m.
