Westminster falls at home to Grove City

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Senior Isabella Barnabei (Oakland, N.J., Indian Hills) registered a pair of first-place finishes for the Westminster College women's swimming and diving program in Thursday's 159-99 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet loss to rival Grove City College. 

Westminster claimed four individual event victories Thursday. 

The Titans opened with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay, posting a time of of 2 minutes, 00.18 seconds. Relay members included senior Amber Krebs (Whitewater, Wis., Whitewater), sophomore Preslie Bodine (Poland, Ohio, Poland Seminary), sophomore Maddy McClain (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) and senior Sara MacMurdo (Pittsburgh, Pa., Carlynton).

Barnabei won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:33.37 and the 200 IM with a time of 2:25.26. MacMurdo won the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.06, was second in the 50 freestyle (26.01) and finished third in the 200 freestyle (2:06.42). McClain won the 1000 with a time of 11:48.00 and was second in the 500 (5:45.74). 

Krebs scored runner-up finishes in the 1000 (12:11.52) and the 200 backstroke (2:28.51) and was third in the 100 backstroke (1:07.98) while senior Sara Swanson (Avondale, Ariz., Odyssey Institute for Advanced and International Studies (OIAIS)) finished third in the 200 backstroke (2:30.14). Bodine was third in the 200 breaststroke (2:47.51) and sophomore Annabelle Turner (Butler, Pa., Butler) was third in the 100 butterfly (1:09.17). Freshman Taylor Moats (Corry, Pa., Corry) finished third in the 500 (5:57.75) while freshman Izzy Summers (Hubbard, Ohio, Hubbard) was third in the 200 butterfly (2:48.40). 

Westminster closed out the event second-place finishes in the 200 freestyle relay. The "A" relay, made up of freshman Daphne Gindlesperger (McKean, Pa., General McLane), Moats, senior Lily Hefner (Washington, Pa., Homeschooled) and McClain, finished second with a time of 1:54.80. Summers, freshman Avery O'Sullivan (Washington, Pa., Trinity), Turner and Swanson made up the "B" relay, which finished third (1:59.69). 

Up Next:
Westminster will host its Senior Recognition Day Saturday when it welcomes Chatham University to New Wilmington. Senior Recognition is scheduled to begin at approximately 12:30 p.m., with the mystery meet slated to get underway at 1 p.m.
