McClain runner-up in 1650

GROVE CITY, Pa.--Westminster College sophomore Maddy McClain (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) was the runner-up in the 1650 at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Swimming and Diving Championships for a second-straight year Saturday night. 

Grove City College won eight-team, 20-event championship 991 points. It was the Wolverines' sixth-straight conference title. Saint Vincent College was second (687). Westminster finished in third place with 421 points.

McClain posted a time of 18 minutes, 29.63 seconds in the 1650. 

Senior Sara MacMurdo (Pittsburgh, Pa., Carlynton) scored a fourth-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a personal-best time of 54.56. Sophomore Annabelle Turner (Butler, Pa., Butler) and senior Isabella Barnabei (Oakland, N.J., Indian Hills) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 200 butterfly, with Turner registering a time of 2:25.76 and Barnabei turning in a time of 2:32.64. Senior Sara Swanson (Avondale, Ariz., Odyssey Institute for Advanced and International Studies (OIAIS)) was eighth in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:23.55. 

Freshman Avery O'Sullivan (Washington, Pa., Trinity) and senior Amber Krebs (Whitewater, Wis., Whitewater) finished 10th and 11th, respectively, in the 200 backstroke. O'Sullivan posted a time of 2:24.95 while Krebs touched in 2:25.55. Freshman Isabella Summers (Hubbard, Ohio, Hubbard) finished 11th in the 200 butterfly (2:44.81) while Krebs was 12th in the 1650 (19:39.75) and sophomore Preslie Bodine (Poland, Ohio, Poland Seminary) finished 12th in the 200 breaststroke (2:43.82). Senior Lily Hefner (Washington, Pa., Homeschooled) finished 14th in the 100 freestyle (1:01.20) and freshman Taylor Moats (Corry, Pa., Corry) was 15th in the 1650 (20:21.34). 

Westminster's 400 freestyle "A" relay was fourth with a time of 3:49.72. Relay members included Krebs, Barnabei, McClain and MacMurdo. The Titans' "B" relay, comprised of Hefner, Bodine, Moats and Swanson, finished 11th (4:01.74).
