Westminster women open season against Edinboro

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's swimming and diving program kicked off its 2025-26 season Friday night, falling to visiting Edinboro 173-83.

Westminster opened with a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay, finishing with a time of two minutes, 03.68 seconds. Relay members included freshmen Olivia Schrock (Greensburg, Pa., Hempfield), Brianna Reinhart (Pittsburgh, Pa., North Allegheny), Nina Nappo (Columbiana, Ohio, Columbiana) and Rachel Rospierski (Erie, Pa., Fairview).

Junior Maddy McClain (Elizabeth, Pa., Elizabeth Forward) swam to second-place finishes in the 500 (5:37.82) and 200 IM (2:25.17) and was third in the 1000 (11:29.39). Rospierski finished second in the 100 back (1:06.37), third in the 200 back (2:27.56) and fourth in the 50 free (27.40) while Schrock was second in the 200 back (2:23.96) and third in the 100 back (10:08.04) and 100 fly (1:13.80).

Freshman Sarah Vitale (Allison Park, Pa., Shaler) was second in the 200 breast (3:04.67) and junior Annabelle Turner (Butler, Pa., Butler) finished second in the 100 fly (1:11.28). Nappo was third in the 200 fly (2:35.92) and 500 (6:01.07) and fourth in the 200 free (2:11.47) while Reinhart was third in the 100 free (59.70) and fourth in the 100 breast (1:20.30). Freshman Sophia Greene (Cabot, Pa., Knoch) was third in the 200 breast (3:10.87) and 200 IM (2:44.41).

The Titans closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay (2:00.05). Members of the relay were freshman Madison Alessio (Charleroi, Pa., Elizabeth Forward), sophomore Daphne Gindlesperger (McKean, Pa., General McLane), Reinhart and McClain.

Up next:
Westminster will open its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) schedule next Saturday at Washington & Jefferson inside the Henry Memorial Natatorium. Events are scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m.
