VIENNA, Ohio--Sophomore Ava Liburdi (Hermitage, Pa., Hickory) sits in the lead after Monday's opening round of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Golf Championships.

Westminster, winners of seven-straight PAC titles, leads the 10-team field going into Tuesday's second round after Monday's 337. W&J, four strokes back, posted an opening-round 341.

The PAC's 36-hole fall event is once again being hosted by the Avalon Golf & Country Club in Warren, Ohio Monday and Tuesday. The women are playing two rounds at Avalon at Squaw Creek in Vienna.

Liburdi fired an eight-over 80 in the opening round. Senior Olivia Kana (North Huntingdon, Pa., Greensburg Central Catholic) and junior Katie Rose Rankin (Sewickley, Pa., North Allegheny) are tied for sixth after carding 84's. Senior Alyssa Rapp (Poland, Ohio, Cardinal Mooney) is tied with Allegheny's Josephine Corey for 12th place with an 89. Freshman CeCe Morgan (Fairview, Pa., Cathedral Prep) is in a three-way tie for 16th with Grove City's Hailey Munoz and Gabrielle Kinneer with a first round score of 92.

The PAC Championships are a 72-hole stroke play event, beginning with 36 holes played this fall and another 36 holes played Friday-Saturday, April 24-25 at Mill Creek Metroparks and the Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio. The women will play two rounds on the North Course in April.

The combined 72-hole team totals determine PAC team champion and winner of the league's automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championships, which are scheduled for May 19-22 at Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, Calif.
