Women's tennis blanks Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa.--The Westminster College women's tennis program shut out Thiel College 7-0 Saturday afternoon at Tomcat Tennis Courts. 

Westminster improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in PAC play. Thiel fell to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in conference action. 

Seniors Gia Francisco (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield) and Emma Sukal (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) opened with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles. Senior Ryleigh Valone (Erie, Pa., Villa Maria Academy) and sophomore Emma Overlingas (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) picked up a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles while senior Taylor Dlugozima (Volant, Pa., Wilmington) and sophomore Morgan Allen (Johnstown, Pa., Westmont Hilltop) won 6-0 at No. 3 doubles.

Francisco earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over Toby Atwood while Valone registered a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Emily Peters at No. 2 singles. Sukal won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles over Megan Harding and Overlingas scored a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Mila Brdar at No. 4 singles. Dlugozima won 6-0, 6-0 over Sabrina Robison at No. 5 singles and Allen rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles over Chloe Walton. 

Westminster will travel to Erie Wednesday to take on Penn State Behrend. The match is scheduled to get underway at 4:30 p.m.
