Women's tennis tops Baldwin Wallace

BEREA, Ohio--The Westminster College women's tennis program scored a 4-3 victory over Baldwin Wallace University Saturday afternoon at Pop Collins Tennis Courts. 

Westminster improved its record to 4-0 while Baldwin Wallace fell to 0-3. Saturday was Westminster's third-straight win over Baldwin Wallace.

Westminster clinched the first team point getting a 3-0 sweep in doubles. Seniors Gia Francisco (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield) and Emma Sukal (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) picked up a 6-2 No. 1 doubles win over Colleen Andersen and Olivia Koutouras. Sophomore Emma Overlingas (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) and senior Taylor Dlugozima (Volant, Pa., Wilmington) beat Emma Trost and Saraphina Groh 6-3 at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, sophomore Morgan Allen (Johnstown, Pa., Westmont Hilltop) and junior Grace Askey (Dubois, Pa., Jeff Tech) scored a 7-5 win over Gillian Brown and Samantha Thielen.

Sukal had a 6-3, 6-3 win over Trost at No. 2 singles while Overlingas beat Groh 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles to stretch Westminster's match lead to 3-0. After Askey suffered a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Brown at No. 5, Allen secured the team victory with a 6-1 4-6. 6-3 win over Koutouras at No. 4 singles.

Sukal and Overlingas are both 4-0 to start the season. Allen is 3-0. 

Westminster begins Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Monday when it hosts Washington & Jefferson College. The match is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
