Davis' four-hit game highlights win over Penn State Behrend

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--Westminster College junior left fielder Chris Davis (San Francisco, Calif., Stuart Hall) had the first four-hit game of his career in Saturday afternoon's 7-5 victory over visiting Penn State Behrend. 

Westminster, winners of three of its last four, improved to 8-11. Penn State Behrend fell to 10-5. 

Davis finished 4-for-4 and hit the first home of his career, a solo shot to right center, in the sixth that extended the Titans' lead to 7-4. Senior second baseman Logan Murgenovich (Aliquippa, Pa., Central Valley) went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. 

Fifth-year right fielder Carter Chinn (Grove City, Pa., Grove City) smacked his first home of the season in the fifth. It was the sixth home run of his career. Chinn finished 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and run scored. Saturday was his fourth multi-RBI game of the year. Senior first baseman Jake Dockum (Fairport, N.Y., Allendale Columbia) was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. He is riding a four-game hitting streak. 

Sophomore right-hander Tyler Parsons (Hebron, Ky., Conner) claimed the first victory of his collegiate career, allowing one run on three hits with a strikeout in 2.0 innings of relief work. Freshman right-hander Jon Albers (Corry, Pa., Corry) got the start and allowed three runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and three walks in 4.0 innings. Junior right-hander Wyatt Walker (Venetia, Pa., Peters Township) got the last three outs for the first save of his collegiate career. 

Silvio Ionadi and Stephen Slate both had three-hit games for Behrend. Ionadi went 3-for-5 with a walk, two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. Slate finished 3-for-5 with a run scored. Colin Bolla (1-1) suffered the loss in relief of starter Jeff Zick, allowing two runs on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts in 2.0 innings. Zick went 1.0 inning and gave up two runs (0 earned) on three hits with a strikeout. 

Behrend finished with 16 hits. Westminster had 12, including five extra-base hits.

Westminster returns to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Sunday at Thiel College. The first pitch of the doubleheader from Tomcat Park is scheduled for 1 p.m.
