Westminster drops league match at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa.--The Westminster College women's tennis program suffered a 6-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss to Grove City Thursday afternoon at the Walters-Zbell Tennis Courts. 

The loss was the first of the year for Westminster, which fell to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in league play. Grove City improved to 6-1 overall and now owns a 4-1 mark in the PAC. 

Grove City claimed the doubles point, winning at No. 2 and No. 3. Seniors Gia Francisco (Canfield, Ohio, Canfield) and Emma Sukal (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) earned a 6-4 victory over Emily Ivory and Janel McCray at No. 1. The Francisco-Sukal pairing is 5-0 this season. 

Sophomore Emma Overlingas (Pittsburgh, Pa., Baldwin) scored the lone singles win for the Titans, earning a 6-2, 0-6, 7-6 (13) decision over Iris Kiehl at No. 4. Overlingas is now 8-0 in singles play.

Westminster hosts Saint Vincent Tuesday, Oct. 8. Doubles action is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
