Westminster women fall at Edinboro

EDINBORO, Pa.--The Westminster College women's swimming and diving program opened its season Friday night at PennWest Edinboro, suffering a 177-89 loss to the host Fighting Scots at the McComb Fieldhouse. 

Junior Alexa Young (Pittsburgh, Pa., Mount Lebanon) finished first in the 1-meter dive with 163.95 points. 

Senior Isabella Barnabei (Oakland, N.J., Indian Hills) registered second-place finishes in the 200 IM with a time of 2 minutes, 20.34 seconds and the 1000 free (12:01.69). She was also third in the 200 fly (2:37.88). Sophomore Annabelle Turner (Butler, Pa., Butler) finished second in both the 100 fly (1:11.43) and 200 fly (2:33.74). 

Senior Sara MacMurdo (Pittsburgh, Pa., Carlynton) was third in th3 50 free (26.30) and 200 free (2:10.98). 

The 200 free relay finished second (1:56.99). Relay members included freshman Taylor Moats (Corry, Pa., Corry), freshman Avery O'Sullivan (Washington, Pa., Trinity), freshman Daphne Grindlesperger (McKean, Pa., General McLane) and senior Amber Krebs (Whitewater, Wis., Whitewater).

Westminster is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 26, hosting Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Washington & Jefferson College at the Westminster Natatorium. The conference meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
