Westminster women win 10 events in PAC dual meet win at W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's swimming and diving team won a combined 10 events during Saturday afternoon's 184-100 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet win at Washington & Jefferson.

Westminster improved to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the PAC. W&J fell to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the PAC. 

The Titans had three double winners on Saturday. Junior Sara MacMurdo (Pittsburgh, Pa., Carlynton) won the 50 freestyle (26.02) and the 100 freestyle (57.56) while freshman Maddy McClain (Elizabeth, Pa. , Elizabeth Forward) won the 500 freestyle (5:40.21) and 1000 freestyle (11:33.27). Freshman Lyndie Peters (Williamsport, Pa., Loyalsock Township) won the 1-meter (206.85) and 3-meter (235.80) diving events. 

Senior Lauren Tanis (Reading, Pa., Fleetwood) won the 200 freestyle (2:09.65) while senior Olivia Herman (Hamburg, N.Y., Hamburg) won the 200 breaststroke (2:44.14).

Westminster opened the meet with a win in 200 medley relay. Members of the medley included junior Christina Loewe (Austin, Texas, Veritas Academy), freshman Preslie Bodine (Poland, Ohio, Poland Seminary), freshman Annabelle Turner (Butler, Pa., Butler) and MacMurdo. The Titans closed the meet with a victory in the 400 freestyle relay (3:56.91). McClain, junior Amber Krebs (Whitewater, Wis., Whitewater), MacMurdo and Tanis made up the freestyle relay squad.

Turner also registered runner-up finishes in the 100 butterfly (1:10.46) and 200 butterfly (2:32.04).

Westminster will travel to non-conference rival Wooster on Saturday, Nov. 11. The event inside the Timken Natatorium is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m.
