Westminster women dealt dual meet loss by Saint Vincent

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.--The Westminster College women's swimming and diving program fell to visiting Saint Vincent College 185-95 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet Saturday afternoon. 

Westminster dropped to 4-2 in dual meets and 3-1 in PAC duals. Saint Vincent improved to 7-1 overall and 6-1 in league duals.

Freshman Alexa Young (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Mount Lebanon) prevailed in both diving events, scoring 171.15 points on the one-meter board and  177.00 points on the three-meter board. 

Sophomore Christina Loewe (Austin, Texas | Veritas Academy) was the runner-up in the 200 backstroke (2:20.19), 200 butterfly (2:33.75) and 1000 freestyle (11:57.93).

Graduate student Megan Routch (Imperial, Pa. | West Allegheny) finished second in the 200 freestyle (2:03.18) and 500 freestyle (5:32.89) and fourth in the 100 freestyle (58.36). Senior Shannon Geer (Greensburg, Pa. | Hempfield) was second in the 100 backstroke (1:06.14), third in the 200 backstroke (2:24.95) and third in the 100 butterfly (1:10.06). Sophomore Sara MacMurdo (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Carlynton) finished second in the 50 freestyle (26.01) and third in the 100 freestyle (57.01).

Geer, junior Olivia Herman (Hamburg, N.Y. | Hamburg), junior Lauren Tanis (Reading, Pa. | Fleetwood) and MacMurdo were third in the meet-opening 200 medley relay with a time of 2:00.91. 

MacMurdo, Routch, Loewe and Tanis closed the meet with a runner-up finish in the 200 freestyle relay, posting a time of 1:48.34. 

Westminster will close the league portion of its dual meet schedule on Thursday, January 26 against Grove City College. Events will begin at 6 p.m.
