LATROBE, Pa. – The Westminster baseball team lost, 7-6, in extra innings on the road against Saint Vincent in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup Monday afternoon. The Titans were able to win the series 2-1.
"Today had a playoff-type feel," said head coach
Patrick Riley. "We learned how important defense is in these types of games."
Westminster (22-13, 17-7 PAC) built an early 4-0 lead after sophomore
Carter Chinn (Grove City, PA / Grove City) brought in seniors
Seth Schrader (Fredonia, NY / Fredonia) and
Austin Webb (Wadsworth, OH / Wadsworth). However, Saint Vincent (23-11, 19-5 PAC) tied the game at six in the bottom of the seventh. In extra innings, Saint Vincent scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly.
The Titans were led by sophomore
Logan Murgenovich (Aliquippa, PA / Central Valley) who went 4-for-6, followed by Chinn who finished the day with a pair of runs-batted-in.
Westminster is next scheduled to compete on Wednesday, May 4 as it hosts La Roche in a non-conference bout. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
