Rook named to All-Region defensive team

GREENSBORO, N.C.--Westminster rising junior Tom Rook (Clarence Center, N.Y., Clarence) was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Region 7 All-Defensive team Thursday afternoon.

The teams were voted on by members of the ABCA and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Division III All-America and Coach of the Year Committee.

Rook, a shortstop, was named First Team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) on May 13. He made 38 starts this season and hit .338 with six doubles, 23 RBIs and 21 runs scored. Rook also went 10-of-12 on stolen base attempts. He recorded 12 multi-hit games, including a five-hit effort against Immaculata on March 11, and had an 11-game hitting streak between April 8-25. Defensively, Rook posted a .987 fielding percentage, committing just two errors on 152 chances. His 108 assists were third-most in the league, and he helped turn 16 double plays.

Westminster closed the season with a 28-12 overall record, matching the program's single-season wins record, and finished 17-5 in the PAC. The Titans secured the No. 1 seed in the PAC Championship Tournament before their postseason run came to an end with losses to No. 6 Chatham and No. 5 Grove City.
