NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster baseball team won, 4-3, at home against Thiel in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest Wednesday evening.
"It started with a great pitching performance from
Kolton Banfi," said head coach
Patrick Riley. "It was a right matchup thing and did a great job with it. Timmy Lewis right behind him had big innings and then with
Logan Minch. They were gaining momentum and we wanted to slow it down. Logan has been really good for us in the bullpen. He's been attacking hits, throwing a lot of strikes."
Westminster (20-12, 15-6 PAC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the sixth inning, however, Thiel (14-18, 10-11 PAC) pulled within one in the ninth. The Titans were able to halt the Tomcats' momentum and secured the victory. On the mound,
Kolton Banfi (Harrisville, PA / Franklin Area) earned his second win of the season with no earned runs allowed. Senior
Logan Minch (Grove City, PA / Grove City Area) collected his second save.
The Titans were led by sophomore
Logan Murgenovich (Aliquippa, PA / Central Valley) who went 3-for-5 with a run-batted-in.
Westminster is back in action Saturday, April 30 as it hosts Saint Vincent in a PAC doubleheader. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
