WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Westminster baseball team swept Waynesburg on the road in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader Thursday afternoon. The Titans won game one 2-1 and game two 4-0.

"Pitching really carried us today," said head coach
Patrick Riley. "Both Vitale and Gibbons gave us really good starts. We are excited to see what they can do moving forward. Defensively, we made some big plays when we needed. Overall, we battled and got the job done."

In the second inning of game one, Westminster (16-7, 11-3 PAC) took a 2-0 lead after senior
Ryan Jolin (Williamsport, PA / Williamsport Area) batted-in classmate
Sean Davis (Sharpsville, PA / Sharpsville), followed by first-year
Braeden Campbell's (Glenshaw, PA / Shaler) single that brought in senior
James Diamond (Moon Twp, PA / Moon Area). The Titans maintained the lead for the rest of the game. First-year
Jake Vitale (New Castle, PA / Union) earned the win with a game-high four strikeouts during the complete-game effort.

Game two was highlighted by Diamond's fourth home run of the season as he batted-in sophomore
Carter Chinn (Grove City, PA / Grove City) in the process during the second inning. Later on, sophomore
Chase Tomko (Hermitage, PA / West Middlesex Area) launched his first career home run that brought in senior
Matt Costello (New Castle, PA / Union Area) as well. First-year
Ryan Gibbons (Ellwood City, PA / Lincoln) improved to 3-1 on the mound with a game-high seven strikeouts.

The Titans were led by Tomko and Diamond as each of them homered. Tomko finished the day 2-for-3 with two runs-batted-in. Diamond tallied a pair of runs-batted-in on the day.

Westminster is back in action Saturday, April 16 as it hosts Waynesburg in a PAC contest. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
