Murrio scores 15 in win at Bethany

BETHANY, W.Va.--The Westminster College women's basketball team earned a 54-40 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win at Bethany Tuesday afternoon. 

Senior Natalie Murrio (Pittsburgh, Pa. | Brentwood) finished with 15 points, six rebounds and a pair of assists for Westminster (6-2, 3-2 PAC). It was her fifth game this season scoring 15 or more points. Murrio hit a season-high three three-pointers in the win.

Senior Lindsay Bell (Youngstown, Ohio | Ursuline) posted a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double. It was Bell's first double-double of the season. Freshman Gracie Schill (Rootstown, Ohio | Akron Hoban) added nine points and seven boards. 

Trailing 15-8 after the first quarter, Bethany's Bella Skobel knocked down a three-point shot to cut the Westminster lead to four, 15-11, with just over nine minutes remaining in the second quarter. The Skobel bucket would prove to be Bethany's only points of the quarter, and Westminster carried a 25-11 lead into the break. 

Westminster's third quarter lead swelled to to as many as 16 before Bethany, fueled by an 8-2 scoring run to close the period, trailed by 10, 40-30, going into the fourth. 

The Titans strung together a 10-0 scoring run to start the fourth and pushed their lead to 20, 50-30, with 6:31 left in regulation. Bell had five points during the surge, including a three-point goal. She drilled a pair of three-pointers Tuesday. 

Westminster outrebounded Bethany 40-30 and limited the Bison to 26.3 percent (15-57) shooting from the floor. The Titans hit 21-of-55 field goals (38.2%) and made 8-of-19 (42.1%) three-point attempts. 

Westminster will participate in the Cruzin' Classic December 17-18 in Miami Gardens, Florida. The Titans will face Spalding Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and No. 24 Messiah Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Games are being hosted by St. Thomas University and will be played at the Fernandez Family Center.
