HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Westminster women's soccer team tied with the Juniata Eagles, 1-1, on the road Saturday.
For both the Titans and Eagles, it was a constant battle to see who would gain the upper hand. Both defenses stepped up when called upon. During the first half, neither team could strike first resulting in a 0-0 tie at intermission.
As the second half kicked off, much of the same seemed to be in store. The minutes were ticking away, and no goals were scored. However, in the 72nd minute of the game Titan junior
Julia Redilla (Cranberry Township / Seneca Valley) found the back of the net to give Westminster a late lead. With the 90th and final minute of regulation in sight, Colleen O'Brien scored to tie the game in 89
th minute forcing OT. Neither team could register the game-winner in extra minutes, resulting in a well-played tie.
Westminster is back in action on Sunday, September 5 at home against Penn-State Altoona. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
