LATROBE, Pa. - The Westminster men's golf team earned a first-place victory, with five top-ten finishes, in the Saint Vincent Invitational on Monday for their second-straight victory.
The Titans were led by the medalist, senior
Jonny Stuckert (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills), who was named this week's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Golf Player of the Week. Stuckert carded a 71 (-1), tied for the fourth lowest round vs. par in program history. He extended his school-record for career wins with six.
Westminster carded a 308 (10 strokes better than second place) out of eight schools.
Senior
Michael Bell (Canonsburg, PA / Peters Township) registered a fourth-place finish with a 77, followed by juniors
Sam Napper (Mt. Pleasant, PA / Mt. Pleasant) and
Jacob Stuckert (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) who both carded an 80. Junior
Calen Cummins (Allison Park, PA / Hampton) finished with an 81, good for a tenth-place finish.
Westminster golfers that competed as individuals were senior
John Popa (Salem, OH / South Range), who carded an 82, and first-year
Gavin Batdorff (Berlin Center, OH / South Range), finishing with an 86.
The Titans are back on the course Tuesday, September 21 as they travel to Greenville, Pa. to compete against Thiel in match play format. Start time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
