Football: Mika and Barr Named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans

AUSTIN, Texas – The Westminster College football team tied a program record with two players earning College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® as senior offensive lineman Cameron Mika (Apollo, PA/Kiski Area) and junior linebacker Ian Barr (State College, PA/State College Area) both earned the distinguished honor for their performances on the field and in the classroom.

Mika and Barr, who both earned Second Team honors, were the first CoSIDA Academic All-Americans for the football team in 18 years since offensive lineman Jim Chaney (2003). It also marked only the second time in program history to have multiple CoSIDA Academic All-Americans and first since 1977 (LB Scot McLuckey and OT Paul Rice).

Mika, an accounting major, earned a grade point average (GPA) of 3.87. A three-time All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) honoree (including First Team as a senior), Mika helped lead a Titan offensive attack that was second in scoring (35.4 points per game) and rushing offense (163.4 yards per game) in the PAC during his senior campaign. Mika was also named to the PAC Sportsmanship Team. During his career, Mika was a multiple CoSIDA Academic All-District and PAC Academic Honor Roll recipient.

Barr, a biology major, boasted a GPA of 3.90. Barr was rewarded for one of the finest defensive performances for a season in program history as he was named D3football.com First Team All-American, PAC Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-PAC, and the "In The (D3FB) Huddle" Defensive Player of the Season. Barr led all of NCAA Division III with six forced fumbles while his three fumble recoveries were tied for the most in the country. Barr also had a pair of defensive touchdowns. Also in the classroom, Barr has been on the PAC Academic Honor Roll every season.

Westminster, under seventh-year Head Coach Scott Benzel, won its first PAC Championship in school history with an undefeated season (5-0) - capping off its most successful season since joining NCAA Division III.
