Disruptive defense leads Westminster to 14-13 win at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa.--The Westminster defense generated 6.0 sacks, 10.0 tackles for loss and a drive-ending interception late in the first half to help lift the Titans to a 14-13 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Geneva Saturday night at Reeves Field.

Westminster improved to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the PAC while Geneva fell to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the PAC. Saturday was the program's 13-straight win over the Golden Tornadoes.

Junior Aiden Fletcher (Tarentum, Pa., Deer Lakes) finished with 10 tackles (5 solo), 2.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Sophomore Gaven Nagy (North Lima, Ohio, South Range) added eight tackles (7 solo), a sack and a forced fumble while sophomore Kaeden Donovan (Buffalo, N.Y., Williamsville North) finished with eight tackles (7 solo). Senior Deshaun McBryde (Apollo, Pa., Kiski) had three tackles (2 solo) and 1.5 sacks. His sack of Caleb Romano on a 3rd-and-9 with under two minutes remaining in the game led to a Geneva turnover on downs with 1:36 to play. Senior Jayden Jackson (Fort Pierce, Fla., Centennial) and freshman Santino Cundiff (Nutley, N.J., Nutley) also added sacks.

Sophomore Kai West's (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) diving interception of the end zone cut short an 18-play, 70-yard Geneva drive with 1:45 left in the opening half. West added five tackles (2 solo) and a half-sack.

Sophomore Quentin Goode (Aliquippa, Pa., Aliquippa) finished 17-of-26 passing for 194 yards and a pair of touchdowns and rushed six times for 32 yards. His eight-yard touchdown throw to freshman Brady Penister (El Dorado, Ark., Strong) with just over 12 minutes to go in the first quarter gave the Titans a 7-6 lead after Jackson blocked James Winters' extra point attempt a minute-and-a-half into the game. After Geneva took a 13-7 lead with just over six minutes left in the third, Goode connected with junior Simeir Wade (Farrell, Pa., Farrell) on a 27-yard touchdown with 4:22 to go in the quarter.

Senior Jayveerh White (Sharon, Pa., Sharon) posted his third-straight game with 100-plus rushing yards, finishing with 114 yards on 14 carries. Wade had three catches for 58 yards while sophomore Lawrence Grayson (Washington, D.C., Paul Laurence Dunbar) added three catches for 56 yards. Freshman Qui-Darwin Cotton (Ferris, Texas, Ferris) hauled in three catches for 34 yards.
