Box Score 2 GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Westminster College softball team swept the Thiel College Tomcats on Friday to remain undefeated on the season. The Titans won, 9-6, in game one and claimed game two by a score of 10-0 in five innings.
In game one, Westminster (4-0) got on the board in the top of the first inning when sophomore

After three scoreless innings, the Titans exploded with a six-run fourth inning, capped off by another RBI single by Latess to give Westminster a commanding 7-0 lead. Thiel (0-4) did not go away, as a three-run fifth inning by the Tomcats cut the deficit to 7-3. Thiel tacked on three more runs in the sixth inning to cut the Westminster lead to just one (7-6). In the top of the seventh, the Titans got two crucial insurance runs, courtesy of a two-RBI triple by sophomore
Alexis Yates (Oakdale, PA / South Fayette) to make the score 9-6, before the Titans held the Tomcats scoreless in the bottom frame to end the game.
In game two, the Titans and Tomcats remained scoreless through three innings, before Westminster, again, did serious damage with a six-run fourth inning to take a 6-0 lead. The Titans continued to pour on the offense in the fifth inning, plating four runs to take a firm 10-0 lead and induced the mercy rule after shutting the Tomcats down in the bottom half.
