NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's tennis team remained undefeated following its fifth shutout of the season on Saturday.
The Titans defeated non-conference foe, Pittsburgh at Greensburg, by a final score of 9-0 to improve to 8-0 on the season. Pitt-Greensburg fell to 1-8 with the loss.
Seniors
Margo Mason (Pittsburgh, PA / Chartiers Valley) and
Alex Marzouca (Kingston, Jamaica / Immaculate Conception) both claimed victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, as they shut out both of their opponents by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Junior
Julia Serbati (Oil City, PA / Oil City Area) and first-year
Sabrina Slagle (Pittsburgh, PA / Upper Saint Clair) also won in No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
Marzouca and Mason also claimed a victory in No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-0, while junior
Casey Barton (New York City, NY / Dominican Academy) and sophomore
Sara Small (Beaver, PA / Beaver Area) also claimed an 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles.
The Titans will be back on the court on Wednesday when they face off against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe, Bethany College at 4 p.m.
