NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's soccer team won, 3-2, over Oberlin College at home Wednesday evening.
Westminster (5-4), winners of three-straight games, had a 2-0 lead at halftime and 3-1 lead with eight minutes left in the contest.
Titan senior goalkeeper
Ezra Cimino (Brookline, MA / Waldorf) earned a career-high 12 saves in the victory.
Senior
Ahmed Cisse (Germantown, MD / Clarksburg) scored the first goal of the game in the 15
th minute with a 20-yard shot. Freshman
Nathan Otero (Rio Rancho, NM / V Sue Cleveland) had the assist.
Sophomore
Adam Saunders (Ellwood City, PA / Riverside) extended Westminster's lead to 2-0 with a goal to the top right of the net after receiving a pass from sophomore
Zac Marzula (Wexford, PA / North Allegheny) in the box with five minutes left in the frame.
Oberlin (3-6) cut into Westminster's lead with a goal by Ben Kessler (assisted by Eddie Aguayo) nine minutes into the second half.
Westminster scored a much-needed insurance goal at the 81:58 mark when freshman
Ivan Mojica (Santa Rosa, CA / Elsie Allen) knocked the ball in the back of the net off an Oberlin deflection. The Yeomen tried to clear the ball that was kicked from sophomore
Logan Mannheimer (South Park, PA / South Park) who tapped it over the Oberlin goalie.
The Yeomen made it interesting with a late goal with 40 seconds left, courtesy of Kessler finding Charlie Stube, but Westminster held Oberlin off in the final seconds for the victory.
The Titans will host Bethany College for their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener Saturday, September 28 at 2:30 p.m.
