Men's Soccer: Cisse's Brace Lifts Titans Over Bison in PAC Opener

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's soccer team won, 3-1, over Bethany College at home Wednesday evening in the opening game of both teams Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) schedule.

Westminster (6-4, 1-0 PAC), winners of four-straight games, utilized a career-day from senior Ahmed Cisse (Germantown, MD / Clarksburg), who tied a career-high two goals and notched one assist en-route to the 3-1 victory.

Cisse assisted on the first goal of the game in the 20th minute by sophomore Nate Taylor (Pittsburgh, PA / Keystone Oaks) to give Westminster a 1-0 lead. The goal was the first of Taylor's career. Westminster took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break. In the second half, Bethany (1-8, 0-1 PAC) knotted the game up at 1-1 with a goal of its own in the 61st minute.  However, the Titans responded just seven minutes later when Cisse tallied his first goal of the game off of a touch from sophomore Logan Mannheimer (South Park, PA / South Park) to give the Titans a 2-1 lead. The Titans picked up an insurance goal just four minutes later when Cisse was fouled inside the box and was awarded a penalty kick. The senior promptly buried the attempt into the back of the net for his second goal of the contest to give Westminster a 3-1 lead, a lead it would hold for the remainder of the contest.

Titan senior goalkeeper Ezra Cimino (Brookline, MA / Waldorf) earned three saves in the win.

Westminster will return to the pitch on Wednesday when it takes on Alfred University in a non-conference matchup on the road. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
