PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Westminster College Men's Soccer team fell to non-conference foe Carnegie Mellon on Friday evening by a final score of 2-0.
Westminster dropped to 2-3 on the season, while the Tartans improved to 3-2.
Carnegie Mellon collected its first goal in the 14
th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Tartans outshot the Titans 11-5 in the first half, but senior goalkeeper
Ezra Cimino (Brookline, MA / Waldorf) made four saves to keep the score at 1-0 in favor of the Tartans heading into halftime.
The Tartans scored again in the 76
th minute to extend their lead to 2-0, a lead they would hold for the remainder of the contest.
Carnegie Mellon bested Westminster in shots (23-7) and corner kicks (4-2). Cimino collected a career-high 11 saves in the complete-game effort for Westminster, including seven saves in the second half.
Westminster will return to the pitch tomorrow when it takes on Franciscan University (OH) in a game that was postponed from this past Wednesday. The game will be restarted, and kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
