HERMITAGE, Pa. - The Westminster men's golf team opened their spring season Saturday, traveling to Avalon at Buhl Park to compete in the Thiel College Invitational.
The Titans finished in sixth place out of nine teams with a team score of 331.
Junior
Avery Andric (Lisbon, OH / Lisbon David Anderson) paced the Titans on the afternoon, signing for a nine over par score of 79 to finish tied for 14th. Senior
Connor White (Gibsonia, PA / Pine-Richland) was right behind, with a score of 82 to place 22nd. Rounding out the team score for the Titans was first-year
Michael Bell (Canonsburg, PA / Peters Township), senior
Frank Pantano (Gibsonia, PA / Pine-Richland), and sophomore
Jonny Stuckert, who all carded scores of 85 on the day to finish tied for 30th.
Competing as an individual for Westminster, freshman
John Popa (Salem, OH / South Range) got around the course in 82 strokes, matching White to finish tied for 22nd. Also competing as individuals, sophomores
Connor Chirdon (Cheswick, PA / Deer Lakes), and Kolby Montgom-ery (Rimersburg, PA / Union) carded scores of 84, and 87, respectively.
The Titans will be back on the course Thursday, April 11 when they travel to Grove City Country Club to compete in the Grove City MBA Invitational. Shotgun start is scheduled for 1 p.m.
