GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Westminster College men's lacrosse team lost, 11-8, at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Grove City College on Thursday, snapping their three-game winning streak.
Grove City (8-5, 5-0 PAC) started the game with a 2-0 lead. Freshman
Joe Rosa (Newton, NJ / Kittatinny Regional) put Westminster (6-6, 3-2 PAC) on the board, after receiving a pass from junior
Dante Serra (Center Valley, PA / Southern Lehigh), with 6:43 on the clock. The Wolverines followed with two-straight goals. Serra answered with another assist - this time finding junior
Chris Slater (Plum, PA / Central Catholic) for the goal with just over a minute remaining in the first quarter. The Wolverines shut out the Titans, 3-0, in the second quarter and led 7-2 at intermission. Westminster, however, continued to chip away at Grove City's lead in the second half and orchestrated a 5-2 run into the fourth quarter; senior
Ryan Shorts (Westlake Village, CA / Oak Park) registered two goals, while Serra, sophomore
Nick Trella (Moon Twp, PA / Moon Area), and junior
Tyler Nordby (Burnt Hills, NY / Burnt Hills) each had a goal. Shorts's second goal cut Grove City's lead to 9-7 with 10:12 left in the game. That, however, would be the closest Westminster would get for the remainder of the contest as Grove City outscored the Titans, 2-1, for the rest of the game.
Titan senior goalkeeper
Carter Hall (Zeeland, MI / Zeeland West) gathered in 11 saves, marking the 10
th-straight game with double-digit saves, in a complete-game effort. Hall also led Westminster with six ground balls. Senior
