Men’s Lacrosse: Titans Topple Barons on Senior Night

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's lacrosse team won, 18-6, against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Franciscan University at home Wednesday evening on Senior Night.

Ryan Shorts (Westlake Village, CA / Oak Park), Carter Hall (Zeeland, MI / Zeeland West), Reid Lutz (Pittsburgh, PA / West Allegheny), Matt Trella (Moon Twp, PA / Moon Area), Alex Rollo-Smith (Elkton, MD / Elkton), and Alex Kennedy (Moon Township, PA / Moon Area) were all honored before the game as the first senior class in the history of the men's lacrosse program. Westminster (7-6, 4-2 PAC) jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first quarter. Shorts and sophomore Shane Fisher (Palm Harbor, FL / East Lake) each tallied two goals in the quarter to spark the Titan offense. Franciscan (0-14, 0-6 PAC) fought back, scoring the first two goals of the second quarter to cut the Titans' lead to 7-3. The Titans responded by scoring three goals before the end of the quarter, capped off by a goal by junior Tyler Nordby (Burnt Hills, NY / Burnt Hills). The Titans led 10-4 at halftime. Westminster did not let the Barons get any closer for the remainder of the contest.

Shorts led the way offensively with four goals and three assists for a total of seven points on the evening. Fisher, Nordby, and juniors Dante Serra (Center Valley, PA / Southern Lehigh) and Chris Slater (Plum, PA / Central Catholic) each tacked on two goals of their own. Hall started in goal and collected four saves in 32:21 minutes of work. Freshman Nathan Moderalli (Youngstown, OH / Cardinal Mooney) played at goal in the second half and recorded three saves of his own to notch a .600 save percentage.

Westminster will be back in action on Saturday, April 27 when it hosts Bethany College in its last regular season game before the PAC playoffs. Game time is scheduled for 2 PM.
