WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Westminster College women's soccer team defeated their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent, Waynesburg, by a score of 1-0 on the road on Saturday.
Despite outshooting Waynesburg (2-10-2, 0-3-2 PAC) 10-0 in the first half, Westminster (9-5-2, 4-0-1 PAC) went into the halftime break deadlocked with the Yellow Jackets at 0-0.
In the second half, the Titans wasted little time when senior forward
Kayla Trozzi (Monroeville, PA / Gateway) collected the lone goal of the contest in the 50th minute off of a touch from classmate
Kiki Kawarizadeh (New Albany, OH / New Albany) to give the Titans a 1-0 lead, a lead they would hold for the remainder of the contest.
The Titans outshot the Yellow Jackets (20-3) and narrowly held the edge in corner kicks (3-2).
Sophomore goalkeeper
Camille Holzschuh (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) grabbed two saves in the shutout. It was the 11th shutout of Holzschuh's career thus far.
Westminster will return to the pitch on Wednesday Oct. 23 when it takes on Chatham University in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup on the road. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
