PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Westminster College women's soccer team defeated their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent, Chatham University, by a score of 1-0 on the road on Tuesday.
In the first half, Chatham (5-6-4, 2-2-2 PAC) tallied nine shots and forced sophomore goalkeeper
Camille Holzschuh (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) to make eight saves in the half to keep the game tied. Westminster (10-5-2, 5-0-1 PAC) peppered the Cougars back line with 12 shots of its own. However, neither team was able to break through and went into halftime deadlocked at 0-0.
In the second half, Titan first-year
Julia Redilla (Harmony, PA / Seneca Valley) notched the first and only goal of the game in the 66
th minute, as she buried a shot in the back of the net to give the Titans a 1-0 lead, a lead the Titans would hold for the remainder of the contest.
The Titans bested the Cougars in shots (26-16) and corner kicks (6-5).
Holzschuh, the reigning PAC Defensive Player of the Week, earned 11 saves in the complete-game shutout. Redilla led with a career-high eight shots, including five shots on goal.
Westminster will return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 26 when it takes on Saint Vincent College in a PAC matchup at home. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
