Men’s Basketball: Titans Fall to PAC Foe Thomas More

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 76-60, to Thomas More College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest at home Wednesday evening.
 
Thomas More (18-4, 14-1 PAC) started the game with a 5-0 lead, however, Westminster (15-7, 9-6 PAC) responded with a 7-0 run to take its first lead, 7-5, after sophomore Cameron Kane-Johnson (Niles, OH / Niles) made a layup with 16:30 on the clock. Five lead changes ensued with the fifth one coming when the Saints took a 14-12 lead with 12:19 left in the first frame. Thomas More extended its lead with a 14-4 run and led 28-16 with 6:36 remaining. The Saints had their largest lead of 13 points three times with the latest coming at 1:04 mark (37-24) and led 37-25 at halftime. In the second half, the Titans got within nine points of the Saints' lead (42-33) with 16:35 remaining. Thomas More, however, quickly regained the lead and maintained a double-digit margin for the remainder of the contest.
 
Kane-Johnson (Niles, OH / Niles) led all scorers with a game-high 25 points. Junior Austin Armwood (Columbus, OH / Westerville North) tallied 11 points, while senior Deontay Scott (Youngstown, OH / East) totaled five points and pocketed a game-high four steals. Junior Marco Delorenzo (Canfield, OH / Canfield) and senior Jarret Vrabel (Canfield, OH / Canfield) each had a team-high six rebounds.
 
Thomas More outshot Westminster, 52.1% (25-48) to 33.8% (22-65). The Saints also outrebounded the Titans, 41-27. Thomas More was 11-for-22 (50%) behind the three-point line, while the Titans were 6-for-32 (18.8%).
 
The Titans will next host PAC foe Grove City College Saturday, Feb. 10 at 3:30 p.m. for their Senior Day.
