NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women's tennis team defeated Thiel College, 8-1, at home on Saturday afternoon.
 
With the win, the Titans improved their overall record to 5-3 and are 4-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play. The Tomcats dropped to 1-5 overall, 1-4 in PAC play.
 
Titan seniors Gabriele Eaborn (Coraopolis, PA / West Allegheny) and Patricia Pivaronas (Saxonburg, PA / Knoch) swept their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 each. Eaborn was the number one seed while Pivaronas played as the number three. Sophomore Alex Marzouca (Miami, FL / Immaculate Conception) (No. 2) won, 6-0, 6-0, and first-year Titans Julia Serbati (Oil City, PA / Oil City Area) (No. 4) and Casey Barton (Forest Hills, NY / Dominican Academy) (No. 6) were victorious, winning their matches 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-1, respectively.
 
Westminster finished 3-0 in the doubles matches on Saturday, with number one pair Eaborn and Serbati winning 8-3. The number two pairing of Marzouca and Pivaronas won 8-1, while the number three pairing of Barton and first-year McKenna Robinson (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler) won 8-1 for the afternoon.
 
The Titans are back in action Monday, September 25 at Geneva College. Start time is set for 6 p.m.
