Volleyball: Titans Split Matches in Final Day of Bearcat Challenge

LATROBE, Pa. – The Westminster College volleyball team split its final two matches at the Bearcat Challenge on Saturday. Saint Vincent College hosted the event.
 
The Titans lost, 3-1 (25-16, 26-28, 13-25, 20-25), to Frostburg State in their first match, but regrouped and shut out Pitt-Greensburg, 3-0 (25-10, 25-16 and 25-21) in the second match.
 
Titan senior Lexie Yoho (Pittsburgh, PA / Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) was named on the All-Tournament Team.
 
Against Frostburg State, Yoho earned a match-high 19 kills, while classmate Kendell Dickson (Cochranton, PA / Cochranton) and sophomore Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) registered 12 and nine kills, respectively. First-year Hannah Santom (Grove City, PA / Grove City) dished-out a match-best 25 assists, while junior Ashley Barker (Warren, PA / Warren Area) had 19. DeGeorge also topped the defense with a match-high 21 digs. Dickson and junior Rachel Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) tallied 16 and 13 digs, respectively. DeGeorge added a team-best three service aces, while Yoho, sophomore Haley Farmerie (Manor, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic), and junior Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield) led Westminster with two blocks apiece.
 
Yoho once again guided the Titan offense against Pitt-Greensburg with a match-high 12 kills, to go along with a match-best three blocks. DeGeorge and Saxton recorded eight and six kills, respectively. DeGeorge also earned a match-high five service aces. Santom tied a match-best with 18 assists, while Moore led Westminster's defense with 14 digs.
 
The Titans (3-1) are back on the court Wednesday, September 6 for their home-opener against Marietta at 7 p.m.
